TRASH THE CIG, NOT THE CITY
LOVE THE COV, NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTTS!
The Cigarette Litter Prevention Program (CLPP) is the nation's largest program aimed at eliminating cigarette litter. Cigarettes are the most commonly littered item worldwide, with approximately 75% of smokers admitting to littering cigarette butts. Cigarettes are not biodegradable - they are made of microplastics and can leach harmful chemicals such as arsenic, formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide, damaging the earth, water, and wildlife.
With the help of a grant through Keep America Beautiful and the partnership of many local businesses, Keep Covington Beautiful is installing public cigarette urns throughout the city. Want to join the effort? Contact us to see how you can get involved!
